Who We Are
Kevin "Hootey" Cline
Lead Gunsmith/ Founder
Kevin graduated from Sonoran Desert Institute's (SDI) Associate of Science in Firearms Technology program in 2017. While with SDI he was trained in the following areas: ballistics, inspection and troubleshooting, finishes and engraving, firearms customization, woodworking, hand checkering, accurization, sights and optics, as well as machining and manufacturing. Kevin has also taken part in various advanced armorer courses offered by SDI, including: AR-10, AR-15, and 1911.
Some of Kevin's notable instructors and mentors at SDI included: Kip Carpenter (American Gunsmithing), Ray Vaughn (Moss Pawn and Gun), and Chris Barrett (Barrett Firearms Manufacturing)
Chief Financial Officer
Abigail has been at Blue Coat since before it even had a name. She is one of the driving forces behind the very foundation of the company! Abigail was born and raised in Springfield, IL. She began her knowledge and experience with firearms after marrying Kevin in 2012. Abby holds a Bachelors in History and Theater from Monmouth College, as well as a Masters in Public History from University of Illinois- Springfield. When not around firearms or in a theater Abigail enjoys time with her husband, Kevin, along with nurturing the future of BCAC: their daughter Kayleigh.
Public Relations Manager
Since joining Blue Coat Arms Company, Rachel has played a crucial role in the continued success of the company. Their exceptional skill set, true passion and creativity has inspired massive growth. Rachel was raised in Alton, IL near St. Louis. She began her knowledge and experience with firearms after moving to Springfield in 2006. Rachel has her Bachelors degree in Sociology from Benedictine University. She has experience with firearms in and off the stage. When not around firearms or in a theater Rachel enjoys time with her husband and son, Logan.
Lead Graphic Designer/ Concept Artist
After a thriving career in many different companies, Blue Coat Arms Company was pleased to welcome Wes Bridges to the team. As a motivated, results-oriented collaborator, they’ve helped to make us what we are today. Wes grew up in the small, rural town of Union, Missouri before moving to Springfield, IL. He has extensive experience in both rifle and bow hunting with additional experience in community theater with multiple stage firearms. He holds a Bachelors degree in Sociology from Greenville University. With knowledge of wood and metalworking, along with Kevin Cline, we would be able to customize your firearm to suit your needs.
Kyle was born in Springfield and raised in Athens and is the younger brother of our owner Kevin. Kyle has been bow and gun hunting since the age of 10. He grew up on the farm and has experience doing mechanical work on vehicles and farming equipment. Kyle trained in structural welding and fabrication at Jacobs Field Service for 1 1/2 years and will be returning for TIG training in the summer of 2019. He has also trained in MIG welding/hydrolics at Drake-Scruggs equipment (1year). Kyle can design horseshoe artwork to homemade tools and blue prints for custom designs (KEEP YOUR EYE ON OUR PAGE FOR A PEEK AT HIS WORK). Kyle is planning to start competition shooting using the works created by Kevin.
